| Hmm... my $0.02 worth is that there should be database-level configuration option called something like 'tablevar_option' as follows:
A) 'tablevars_in_memory': Default behaviour for table valued variables. (Not all of us are .NET CLR SMEs)
B) 'tablevars_in_tempdb': Create all table valued variables in tempdb.
C) 'tablevars_by_threshold': Create table valued variables in memory by default, but flush them to tempdb when they exceed a threshold number of data pages.
For option C, you'd need ... |

| Hmm... but ASCII('A') < ASCII('S')?
Likewise O(racle), D(B2), I(ngres/nformix/nterbase), P(aradox/ick) and a bunch of others. Of course, this still means SQL Server < Sybase, Teradata and a handful of far less important Dee-Bee-eMm-esSesses. Then again - that also means Yukon > all others!

| Just a quick one - has anyone considered creating a forum for people who are looking for a SQL Server skilled resource for short contracts, etc? I just received a request from the ADNUG coordinator asking for someone with SQL Server skills for a 1-2 month engagement.
It seems to me that this is something that would be a value add to the community - from memory PASS have something similar on their site.
Cheers

| Santos House is at Santos 91 King William St Adelaide 5000. The SQL SIG meeting takes place on level 2.
Santos House used to be the State Bank tower.

| Folks,
While I know this whole site is dedicated to the SQL Server community, I can see value in a community-specific forum for discussing community events which is technology agnostic. This would be especially valuable to me in trying to get the Adelaide SIG up and running - if Greg or any of the other SIG organisers can offer advice, the kind of forum I'm suggesting might be a good place to do it.
