Castes?

Have you removed the castes :(

I was hoping to run through the ranks and maybe aspire to the rank of a Joe Celko, or maybe Kalen Delany :D

Thanks

The only thing I removed from the source re castes was the caste picture. I thought the Hasslehoff pic was a bit silly in the left margin, especially because it pushed other more useful things in the left margin down lower & out of view.

Personally I'm against us promoting anything associated with the word "caste" as we live in a society which professes equality & some might associate particularly bad feelings with this word.

Perhaps we should keep the points system alive but give it another name other than "castes".. ?

Heck, you're so far in front I can't see anyone reaching nirvana before you! (c:

I agree we could rename/reword a lot of things on the site. Like "Biographies" and "Universities" for example.

The idea behind the pictures is for it to be a bit silly :) and it wouldn't take up any more than is currently occupied by the links/polls/sponsores etc... Maybe it should be shuffled to the bottom so that the sponsors and links are always at the top.

You could always introduce a handicapping system for the points :D

Actually, on the points system, I'd like to see it tied to more than just forum posts. It'd be good if the rating from articles and resources could be included as well. For all a new user can see, my 100 posts could be totally worthless drivel :)

Thanks
Phill
